Construction

Built by Warren Buckley to his own design in Helsinki,  Finland in 1996/7. The hull is epoxied strip plank in white Pine below the waterline and red Cedar above with clear fibreglass and epoxy sheathing (re epoxied under the waterline in 2009). The topsides are finished in varnish. Substantial internal galvanised steel frame carries the mast step, keel and engine loads, together with the structural nature of the interior fit (longitudinal box girder) give stiffness to the full. The deck is ply, foam then epoxy glass on the top, finished in a white non slip deck paint. The coachroof is the same construction as the hull. The keel is a steel fin with composite fairing and lead bulb. Tiller steering to spade rudder (carbon stock in a foam and glass blade).

Last surveyed for insurance purpose in 2022, copy available.

This Buckley 9m has been in her present, professional boat builder, ownership since 2003. She is a fantastically fun sports boat that is brilliantly rewarding to sail. The hull is epoxied strip plank construction that has flown through a 2022 survey. She is a very simple beast down below, but all the fun is on top where you are compelled by her vast cockpit and easy to handle systems making cruising her at pace a true joy!  She really must be viewed to be appreciated.
